It’s June 18, the first night of the “What Happens In Vegas Tour” featuring The Cab, The Secret Handshake, A Rocket To The Moon, My Favorite Highway, The Summer Set, Eye Alaska, and Anarbor. Though a hectic day, vocalist Alex DeLeon of pop /rock band The Cab took a few minutes to talk about what’s in store for the band for the next two months and what they’re excited about.

Today is the first show of the “What Happens In Vegas” tour. What’s the general vibe at the venue?
We’re all excited. We’ve done a “Why So Serious?” tour where we headlined. But to finally be on a headliner and be gone for two months… We’re excited. We think we’ve been working hard and now we’ll have time to play songs we haven’t played live before.
So you guys are from Vegas and tonight you’re playing Arizona…when did you leave for tour and what has today been like?
[Laughs] I pulled an all-nighter. I was doing laundry, packing, saying goodbye. At 4:30 I drove over and we left at 5:30-ish. I passed out in the van.
Are you friends with any of the bands on the tour?
We played even before we were signed with Anarbor. We’ve toured with A Rocket To The Moon. Eye Alaska are good friends. This tour’s gonna be awesome. We’re all young and have toured [together] before. It’s going to be a fun party and I think kids will see that excitement onstage.
Is there a particular group on the roster that you’re really excited to be on tour with because you like the music?
I’m actually really into My Favorite Highway, they’re amazing. David [Cook], the singer, is a good friend and they’re really good songwriters. I’ve never seen them play before. I’m excited to catch up.
Do you get guys get nervous before you hit the stage?
It depends. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. It depends on things – the mood, the venue we’re playing… When we see familiar faces, we become comfortable and excited.
What’s your favorite song off the record to play live?
Probably “Can You Keep A Secret?” or “Bounce.” They’re energetic and we can jump around onstage like idiots. They’re high energy and the crowd gets into them. We want to play the ballad “Vegas Skies” live.
Does your band prank others that they tour with?
We like that fun… a lot. But it depends. We’re very sarcastic people and we like to mess with people a lot. There’s probably gonna be a lot of pranking because everyone is good friends.
Knowing you’ll be gone for months at a time and in a different city each night, what from home can you not live without?
Obviously my tripod – ipod, computer, and phone. Oh- I have this body pillow, the most comfortable pillow ever. I could sleep on shattered glass with that pillow. It’s comfortable thing in the world.
Do you have a favorite city to play in?
It changes all the time. Vegas is good for home shows. Philly [Philadelphia, Pennsylvania], Nashville [Tennessee]… I like the city Nashville and have considered moving there for a year. And Philly’s amazing – my two favorites. Every city’s got something special and something memorable.
What are your favorite things for a fan to bring you when they meet you at a show?
Honestly them bringing themselves and their friends. Thats the coolest thing.
But I love Mountain Dew, Cheez-Its, basically anything bad for me. Anything healthy I probably won’t like! [Laughs]
